Develop the ability to throw to different sides of your receiver
In these four photos, the disc and defender are on the same
side of the receiver.
As the thrower, if you can throw the disc to the side opposite the
defender, you help the receiver protect the disc and increase
the potential that the disc will not be knocked down.
Here's how to practice your throws. Mentally draw a grid:
three columns - left, center and right of the receiver.
three heights - knees-to-waist, waist-to-letter-high, then up to shoulders.
Pick one of the 9 boxes in the grid and throw the disc so that
your receiver catches the disk within that box.
Do this with flat backhands and forehands.
Then shape your throws with outside-in and inside-out curves;
try tight curves and big arcs.
You can do this with every type of throw.
When you can consistently hit the boxes you choose,
put this aim into use while you play.
